Steve

We Nirvana the Band. Welcome to Nirvana the Band, the show, the podcast. A podcast about Nirvana the Band. Our plan? Get Matt Johnson and Jay McCarroll to come on the show. I'm Steve, and this is my co-hosts. I'm Michelle.

Kit

And I'm Kit.

Steve

Guys, we're here. We made it out of that guy's sex basement. We made it back from the Gay Mets.

Michelle

If you could put the car driving sound in this one too, that would be great. Thank you.

Steve

Cool. And uh, we're here. We're at the Viceland series. How are we feeling?

Kit

Better, gayer, metzier.

Michelle

I feel so empowered by the feeling of Gay Mets night. I could gay Mets anywhere.

Steve

It's true. That's what the month is for when this comes out in July.

Michelle

That's gay Mets month.

Steve

I miss gay Brandon Nemo. Anyway, that's for one listener. Me? Steve re-listening to an edit of this episode. We have to have one other listener that's a Mets fan. Right? Maybe. Please.

Kit

Are you out there?

Steve

If you're out there, please message us. Mets us.

Kit

No.

Steve

Okay. I'm so sorry. I'm so sorry about that. I'll leave. Alright. We have to check the whiteboard. I have it right here. It's getting a little unwieldy, and I think it's time to whittle it down. Okay.

Michelle

Okay.

Steve

Uh Matt and Jay, have we heard from them?

Michelle

My letters have gone unanswered. I am just writing Matt, J on them and then throwing them into the ocean though. So maybe that's maybe there's something wrong there.

Kit

Yeah, we should check the currents to see if they're moving in the right direction to go up to Canada. Yeah.

Steve

I turned off all the lights in my bathroom and say Matt and J, Matt and J, Matt and J three times into the mirror. Is that working? Nope. Oh. I did get a spooky lady though.

SPEAKER_04

Oh. Is she hot?

Steve

Yeah, we went for a nice dinner. Oh. That's so nice. Yeah. Have her on the pod.

SPEAKER_03

Hello!

Steve

It's time to take Clover the Cloverfield Monster off the list because we've had them on the pod. Thanks, old friend. Kit's dream guest, the fan page moderator.

Kit

Yes. They were here and it was magical.

Steve

Shout out, Carson. We love you, Carson. We do love Carson. Going off the board, you lovable scamp.

Kit

And that also uh accounted for literally any Canadian as well. So that's both of my dream guests done.

Michelle

Yeah. Right off there. We fed two birds with one scone. Yes. Jay's dad? The letters that I throw in after Man Jay are to Jay's dad, and I think they're also probably lost in the currents.

Steve

And I think they might be bordering on sexual harassment at this point.

Michelle

So I think it's probably good that they're not making them to him.

Steve

Yeah. It's weird that you just write a woo-ga on each one and hope for the best. Well, he'll know. Lydia Tarr, we have heard from. Yeah.

Michelle

Get her off of there.

Steve

Get her off the list. She has concerts to conduct. It's true.

Kit

Lydia, can you give us free tickets to your concerts, please?

Steve

Do you think she's bummed that Trump's not on the Kennedy Center anymore?

Michelle

He's still up there. Oh no. I was watching the live stream earlier. Okay. It hasn't come. They're really throwing a lot of legal spaghetti at the wall. We don't have to do this.

Steve

Have we heard from Connor Ratliff? I don't think so. Brenner Herzog? No. I unfortunately think we may need to take those two off the list.

SPEAKER_03

Okay.

Steve

Okay. I'm sorry. That's okay. I'll live. Because here's the thing. We need a stronger, a stronger focus. This has gotten too unwieldy. We're in a new era. New names. New goals. Yeah. Except for the main one. Get the Canadian arm from the International Space Station on their show. Yes, they are staying on the list. Fucking go. Seth McFarlane does not want to come on to talk about Frank Sinatra, I'm assuming. Probably not. But we're going to leave him on there just in case.

Michelle

We're taking off Werner Hertzog, but we're leaving on Seth McFarlane.

Kit

That's kind of fucked up.

Steve

Seth McFarlane is off. And I am unhappy to report that we did hear back that Hank Azaria specifically does not want to speak to us about Bruce Springsteen. Or his workout routine. We did get confirmed that he was asked and said no.

Michelle

Well, was he asked? I've we got a polite rejection that said there's no room on his schedule.

Kit

So if we just keep doing the podcast long enough, something will open up. Something will open.

Michelle

Okay. So as of right now. And he'll be he's getting buffered as time goes on.

Kit

Maybe that's what we do to get him on the pod, is that we need him and Matt to compare workout routines.

Steve

This is a good plan. So we're gonna revisit Hank in season two of Iceland. We'll come back to Hank. Okay. So as of right now, on the board, deep focus, Matt and Jay, Jay's dad, and the Canada arm of the International Space Station. Mm-hmm. Which is called the Canada arm, actually. Hell yeah. So there we go.

Michelle

It's like one word, right? Can't Canad Arm. Can Canad Arm.

Steve

Can't arm.

Michelle

It's a Canada arm.

Kit

Come on the pod, Canada Arm.

Steve

Gang, the banner is the pilot episode of the series in which Matt and Jay drop a huge banner across from the Rivoli. Unfortunately, it turns out to be more revealing than they'd planned. So I want to start with Michelle. How did you feel starting the Vice Land show? How'd you feel about this episode?

Michelle

I loved it. It's so fun to see them doing this like in a slightly more polished and um not a lot more polished. Like I think it would lose the charm if it was too polished. Like it still feels like them, but it feels like them with like almost 10 years more like experience and thought and having done other work in that time. Um and I love that it is like the same opener as the web series, but a little different. Um I really enjoyed this episode. I cackled a lot. Um, I don't know how, but the like the twist in it had never been revealed to me. So I was like genuinely shocked and surprised. And um I think laughed so hard that I probably annoyed my next door neighbors. It was really, really good.

Steve

How about you, Kit? How'd you feel revisiting this one?

Kit

I love this episode. I feel very strongly that the first few episodes of the Vice television show are so incredibly strong. And the banner is absolutely one that I will show people to try to get them into the show. Um, I think it's really fun. I love all the little callbacks that they do to the web series. Um, I think it's so fun when they're calling the Rivoli and they're saying that they've left this package, and then the the flashback is to the episode of the web series where they're like giving the physical package to them, indicating that they did give them banned evidence just 10 years ago. It's really fun. I don't know. I love this episode.

Steve

God, it's so fucking good. And just a minute, a mini report. Um, I watched this on my movie Blu-ray, because the 4K remaster is on the Blu-ray for the movie of this episode, only this episode, and my mother-in-law is visiting, who whenever I put something on, she's just like, Yeah, what's Steve watching? Let me watch it. And she was Putin and a Hollerin. Yes, is dangerous. She came in once to me watching What One Night in Soho and Raging on the Couch.

Kit

Oh my god. My apologies to you and your mother-in-law. Edgar Wright belongs in prison for that movie.

Steve

My god.

Kit

Fucking hate that.

Steve

It's a worse crime than the cast of Baby Driver. But Edgar Wright aside, uh what I thought was really interesting is because like she doesn't really share my humor a lot of the time, but she was cackling the whole time. It's really, really good. Like I inadvertently introduced someone to this thing, you know. I hadn't meant it, I was just putting it on for myself to watch today, and I was just delighted to see the joy that this brought someone who had no idea what they were watching. Um But, you know, Michelle, you mentioned the opening before and get you as well. Like, my first note I had was that this is so much more um self-reflective than I realized before. Because, you know, we've spent, you know, a couple of months now talking about the show in depth. And normally, you know, I'd burn through the web series in like a couple days and then jump on Vice Land and go from there and have fun. But you know, sitting and reflecting, this version of Matt is so less confident and less aggro than the one we meet on the first episode of the web series. Because he's like, Oh, we're gonna have a great show for you. Oh, we can't say that, they're gonna be disappointed.

Michelle

Yeah.

Steve

And it's it's him so he's so far from the bravado of the first one where he's like, Fuck you! We're the best, we're Nirvana the band. And I was it it just shows the passing of time. And also um, their rapport is so much quicker. Like they get they bounce off each other a lot faster. And you can jump into this as a new viewer, right? But at the same time, if you've really sat with the web series, it is kind of a hey, this opening scene is a hey, let's check in on like where Matt and Jay are now after these years. And I just found that really, really interesting and self-reflective.

Kit

Yeah, the one thing I I really love about this is that it it feels like obviously we have the luxury of having seen the movie like 10 years after the the vice show has come out. And I love that the beginning of the web series of the vice show and of the movie is still them doing the act, but like doing it in a way where it's like we're introducing you to what this thing is, we are Nirvana, the band, like in that very specific way. And I think there's a lot of play that happens in the Vice Land series in relation to the web series that I think is intentional, that is very fascinating watching them recontextualize and bring back some of those concepts into the Vice Show in a completely different way. And I'm excited for us to go through them together as they come up.

Steve

Yeah, definitely. Uh, some table setting. You know, I I there's not a lot of info behind the scenes stuff out there just because Vice Land died horribly. But a couple of things I was reading a few interviews that I could find from the time, and a couple of interesting things I read was um the people at Viceland were really into Matt Johnson's work, you know, on the dirties, and they like wanted to recruit him to do something, and he was the one that pitched apparently bringing back Nirvana the Band the show. I thought that was really interesting. Um there was a thing that they revealed in an interview for this that really um allowed me to view this a lot differently, was that they said when they started the web series, they were making it a nondescript city. But they started to realize as they were filming that Toronto was so essential to it, and you can see how that has carried over, where the Viceland one is so much more about them in Toronto than even the web series was. And Jay said something that I found really interesting where he said, you know, we're not saying it, but we are basically two suburban kids like acting like adults in the city and in awe of everything about Toronto. Like going on the subway, exciting, getting on a bus, oh my god. And just talking about it, like that is the viewpoint to look at them is just two suburban little boys like living as adults in Toronto and trying to be cool. And that really unlocked a lot of stuff for me.

Michelle

That's so funny. Yeah. I I'm surprised to hear that they were trying to make it nondescript because even in the web series, it feels like Toronto is a character in the show. And like I'm learning the names of streets and parks and neighborhoods in Toronto through the course of that that I had no idea about before. Um and I love I love that it sort of became a part of it. That's so that's so nice.

Steve

And the the other interesting fact was they debuted the first few episodes at TIFF.

Kit

Oh, interesting.

Steve

So Matt had shown um the dirties, uh, I believe it's Sundance, and people gave him flack for not premiering his Canadian movie in Canada, and he said something along the lines of like he didn't want it to look like a charity case, that they were just boosting him because he was Canadian. And people got mad at him. Hold on, people got mad at Matt Johnson for saying something. And he was saying that he was really excited to be at TIF and debut um this holy Canadian show there. So, shall we get into the banner? Let's get into it. We talked a little bit about the opening. Um just them calling the Rivoli straight out and Matt spending so much time talking about how he's gonna like try and impress it if a girl picks up the phone and then immediately deflating when it's a guy made me cackle. Uh hi.

Michelle

Like after spending like a good two minutes. But how he's gonna be so impressed. But the girl picking up the phone is oh, the boys called. That's a great line. Um, the phone call was one of the questions that I had, which I couldn't quite tell, even on a re-listen. Is Jay still doing all of the off-screen voices? I feel like the voice that's on the phone here I would buy as Jay, but I was also by as not Jay, and I and I just can't tell.

Kit

You know, I'm not sure. I assumed it was not Jay, but maybe it is.

Steve

Yeah, I assumed it wasn't as well. Uh, from what I was reading, is this show, like the TV show was way more um uh renegade, I'll go with, than the web series was. Interesting. Because in including uh one of the interviews I read was they showed up basically um to film at Now magazine and were like basically harassing the person at the front desk. And then when they called up saying that there's these two weirdos trying to get in, they were like, Are they calling themselves Nirvana the band? And they said, Yeah, like we would have let them in, but they were just too focused on like keeping it authentic that they just like stormed the office. That's so funny. So I that makes me go, yeah, they probably just called some guy, right? Like, that was my takeaway. Yeah. Because he is so angry so quickly.

Michelle

Well, I think one of the things that made me think it might have been a scripted bit of it was like he is so disappointed that they don't have photos of their band. And that just seems like such a funny, specific thing that like no normal human's reaction would be like, Well, do you well, do you have a photo of your band? Do you have any evidence? That felt to me like it had to be a setup, whether it's Jay's voice or someone else, um, like to get them on the pipeline to to Sears.

Steve

One of the only behind-the-scenes thing I saw, and what we'll talk about this guy in a minute, was that they had to like basically coax this man into saying Sears that tells them to go to Sears, because they go to the library and Matt is looking at photos of rock musicians smoking.

Michelle

Mm-hmm.

Steve

And they're just like a random poor dude, and they're like, Yeah, they're all smoking, right? And he's like, Yeah, and he clearly does not want to be involved. And shout out to Mark. Shout out, Mark, yeah, real one. And I heard one clip on an interview once where Matt was like, we tried so hard to get this guy to suggest something, and we eventually just had to get him to say Sears for us.

Michelle

That's really funny, because I one of the moments that I wrote down as like how much I loved it was them just going back and forth and saying, Sears, Sears! And then winding up in a Sears. I think I would have guessed that all of the Sears in the Worlds were closed by 2017, but maybe my timeline and memory is off, or maybe they stayed open longer in Canada. I think the bit where they're looking at the books is really funny to me to watch Matt get really attached to the idea of the thing you do in a photo of a band is smoke a cigarette and you look cool. And then Jay being like the thing you do in a photo of a band is wear cool tight leather pants, and then they just get so fixated on their diverting directions of like what's important in a band photo. It's it's just really it's excellent.

Kit

Yeah, and then watching Matt try to smoke three in his mouth during that photo, incredible.

Steve

I was really fascinated by Jay's characterization, especially in the library scene, because in the web series there were parts where he was like trying to be too cool for school, you know what I mean? And he was a little more frustrated. And then this one, he's so wide-eyed and enthusiastic in a way that Web Series Jay wasn't. Yeah. He's like, Matt, check it out, they got all these VHS tapes. Joy in his heart. And I thought that it was interesting to see these characters change, and that Jay seems to have found more wonder, and Matt seems to have lost bravado.

Kit

Yeah, I think I could see that. I mean, I think another thing that's interesting is that it does feel like the edges have been sanded off a little bit compared to the web series. And so part of that is just like wondering on like a meta level of like, was that intentional because like comedy had changed over the past 10 years to be more like this? Like, were these actual real character choices? Like, I do think the Jay being almost a completely different character was a character choice versus Matt maybe being a little less confident, might just be something that happened through the passage of time.

Steve

No, you're you're definitely right. And even logistically, they can't be as like big because they had better, bigger cameras. You know what I mean? They had a larger crew. Yeah. And that's harder to make look just like a couple of buddies.

Michelle

Yeah, and I think I I have to imagine that some amount of it is like that there's just sort of more thought and planning going into it than there was for the web series. And like I it seems by everything that I've seen so far that like there's still a ton of like we'll just film hours and hours and hours and piece something together after it. But there's also like locations and permissions and getting large banners printed that requires a little bit more planning than I think a lot of the web series did. Um, and I'm I'd be so interested when we talk to them to hear about how sort of their philosophy changed as the scope got bigger and there had to be more like logistics involved with putting the show together.

Steve

There is one shot that I kept thinking about, and I don't even know if you two notice this, because it's one second, where they use this shot of this woman looking directly down the camera lens and waving.

SPEAKER_05

Oh, I don't think I noticed serious.

Steve

No, like on the street, like they're walking in Toronto, right? And they're showing like a bunch of people, and then there's it the camera's on this one woman, and she just goes like at the camera. I thought it was really interesting to keep that shot in because it is, I think, the first time we have seen a random person basically address that they're being filmed for a TV show. And for me, I know it's like a minuscule thing, but for me that shifts things a little bit. It's not, it feels more like these guys are making a show. Yeah. You know, like making a show versus making like a web series where they're just trying to like have their buddies film them. I don't know if that makes sense. You know, like it just there's like a shift to that, like this acknowledgement of we're performing, basically.

Michelle

No, I think that's interesting because I think there's a lot in the web series that is like, you know, whether people around them were aware or not, it is presented in a way that makes it seem like the cameras are always like either invisible or like someone's hiding behind a tree or a car. Like it feels very voyeuristic in a way that at least this first episode of the Vice Land show feels a lot less. Like it feels it feels like the camera people are more obvious and more part of it. And like even the shots of like people sitting outside at the rivalry and reacting, it feels like there's some amount of that that they're doing that because like they could maybe tell that they're being filmed. But I don't know. Maybe they're also just reacting to the banner that they see across the street.

Kit

I love the lead up to that because the first time I watched it, I didn't notice the placement of the thumb on the photo every single time. And the second time I was like, this is incredible shit.

Michelle

Yeah. And it's it's it's amazing that it doesn't feel like obvious that they are hiding part of the photo when they're doing that. Because once you go back and watch it again, it's like, oh my god, of course. But I I had no clue and like would not have guessed that that was gonna be. Like, I was like, oh, there's gonna be something wrong with the poster, or it's gonna like have a weird placement, and did not did not see the twist that was coming. Um, which that which was that, you know, once they got their beautiful Sears photo blown up and put on put on the building across the street from the Rivoli, Jay's penis is out. That had to have been a reference to. The Lenny Kravitz incident, right? Oh yeah.

SPEAKER_03

Mm-hmm.

Michelle

Yeah. Famously, Lenny Kravitz performing in very tight leather pants like Rockstar does. Um split his split his pants open while he was slapping around. Sick guitar solo. What a cool dude. What a cool dude.

Steve

Can we rewind a little bit and talk about the the Sears photo shoot scene?

Michelle

Yeah.

Steve

Because first of all, this woman is just an the photographer, an absolute professional.

Michelle

Oh, she's amazing.

Steve

She's so gentle with them.

Michelle

Yeah. I love that she's giving them a little bit of life advice. It's like, mate, but sometimes when we try to act cool in a way that we aren't, it doesn't feel it doesn't feel good in the photo. And she has like a vision for how they're standing. I love her. Queen.

Steve

And she does she does like does not look at like the camera. She's just focused on them, being in the moment. Mad and Jay are being goofballs. And it Two professionals respecting each other's camera work. And I watched this three times, getting ready for this week. So I was having a week. And I I noticed that they just they match her energy so well. Like they're not getting super zany. Like they're being goofballs, like Matt's trying to smoke three cigarettes and Jay's like squatting weird and all that. But they're not trolling her, they're just playing their characters. And that felt like such a growth from them just acting like lunatics in the web series.

Michelle

Yeah, totally. What what a what a lovely woman. I did think there was an interesting bit of what feels to me who has seen the movie Foreshadowing, where Jay in the photo shoot is like, you know, if you think if you think it looks cool and like the pants look cool, we could do an adjust me. Um that I'd be curious if there was any intentional link when they started making the movie of Jay breaking out and going solo. I don't know how much of a theme that's gonna be in the Vice Land show.

Steve

I'll never tell.

Michelle

Remember that movie?

Kit

No. No.

Steve

What are you talking about?

Kit

Thought you were doing Gossip Girl.

Steve

I'm not a gossip girl. I'm an honest girl.

Michelle

The pretty little liars theme.

Steve

It was Brittany Murphy, where she like had she was like a lady with like it was a thriller, and the whole trailer was her going, I'll never tell. And everybody I knew cited it over and over again. Nope.

Kit

Nope.

unknown

God.

Steve

You guys miss so much being years younger than me.

Kit

Yeah, I think about that every day. You miss so much? Miss so much. Why am I not the same age as Steve?

Michelle

Yeah. If only.

Steve

If only. You just don't you don't want to speedrun your 30s?

Kit

No.

Steve

I already feel like I am. I know this is not important.

Kit

Okay.

Steve

But I saw the Masters of the Universe movie this week.

Kit

Mm-hmm. Oh, the He-Man movie?

Steve

Yeah. I've never seen a big budget movie aimed directly at people 40 and older, and I felt guilty enjoying it. But you've seen Master and Commander. Yeah, but that there's a difference between a dad movie and a we're making a child's blockbuster for is a 40-year-olds.

Kit

Is the movie about two men in love on a ship not just an action figure movie in a way? I wish it was.

Steve

I mean, that would be an ideal movie for me.

Kit

Do they do that in the He-Man movie?

Steve

They don't kiss, but they do talk about toxic masculinity quite a bit.

Kit

That's nice. Okay. Skeleto does?

Steve

No. He- Jared Leto Skeletor. He's just running around being like, I'm Jared Leto.

Kit

And not even doing the voice. What are we doing here?

Steve

It's a me, Morbius.

Michelle

It's Morbin time.

Steve

Do you remember how angry you were when in the film Morbius, he doesn't say, uh, we are Venom? Just kidding, I'm Dr. Michael Morbius.

Michelle

Yeah, I think about it every single day.

Steve

I have never seen you so angry.

Kit

You were about to like rip the chair off from the theater and throw it at the screen. It was crazy. Mm-hmm.

unknown

Yeah.

Michelle

You said in the theater, what the fuck? He didn't say it. Well, he didn't. And also nobody else was in the theater with us, so it was okay for me to yell that.

Steve

Leave we spent money to rent a private theater for Morbius.

Kit

Yes. Yes, because I was there, and it is the least insane thing we've done as a group.

Steve

I don't know if it's the least insane thing.

Kit

It's pretty low on the list.

Steve

I mean, fair. I'm gonna say we were early adopters of Wonka. Wonka became a smash hit, but we were there.

Kit

We were taste makers, you could say, for Wonka.

Steve

It made over half a billion dollars.

Michelle

And that was all from us. Yes. That was from me buying those hat-shaped gummies.

Steve

And me buying whatever that beverage was I got that looked like slob at the Wonka menu.

Kit

Uh listeners, please Google the iHop Willy Wonka menu if you don't remember this. Uh, and just look at the photos.

Michelle

It's so gross. Everything was just covered in weird purple goo and edible gold dust.

Steve

And they look disgusted that we were there to order it. They were concerned for us. And they should have been. That was right for them to do. It was opening night of Wonka a block from the theater. Wonder was in the air. Do you know they opened an iHop right by my apartment and I'm waiting for the perfect novelty menu to go back? Oh my god.

Michelle

No. I'm really excited to find out what is it. I'm honestly surprised that there isn't a He-Man novelty menu. Or maybe there is, and that's just not perfect for you.

Steve

It's yeah. I don't know who that movie is for. I guess me. They got your number and they made a movie just for you. I have AMCA list. I will my bar has fallen off a cliff of what I'm willing to see in the theater.

Michelle

I love how much of this episode of the show was just like a general appreciation for Jurassic Park and them watching and enjoying Jurassic Park. Um I had a really nice time watching a little bit of Jurassic Park with Matt and Jay.

Kit

It's a great movie. It's so good. And I want to watch Jurassic Park with them.

Michelle

Mm-hmm.

Kit

Same.

Steve

I'm still astounded. There we go. That they fucking just use the music and show the movie.

Kit

Okay, we're fine.

Steve

Yeah. Wait, do you think I was gonna say I never saw Jurassic Park?

Kit

No, I I thought we were gonna go on like a Spielberg situation.

Michelle

You looked like you were really winding up for a good tangent.

Kit

Yeah.

Michelle

Well, I did see Disclosure Day last night.

Steve

Would you like me to go off on that for 45 minutes?

Kit

Actually, yeah, I sent a very important message to you and you never responded about disclosure day.

Steve

What did you send to me about disclosure day?

Kit

I I I sent you a voice memo asking you if I should see it in IMAX or not.

Steve

Oh, I didn't play the voice memo because I have been running around the maniacal. You should see it in IMAX because the sound is unbelievable. Okay.

Kit

Because we were thinking about seeing it at the theater near us, but then it's just like, or we could see it in IMAX, but IMAX.

Steve

We saw it in a in a Limax screen. You know, the ones that have the IMAX sound system and project on IMAX, but they're not a full IMAX size screen.

Kit

No, I didn't know that was a thing. It's a thing.

Steve

Oh. Um blew the fucking doors off the place, man. I love Steven Spielberg so much.

SPEAKER_05

You know this unpopular opinion.

Steve

You know, I've been shit on by my film friends for my love of Steven Spielberg many times.

Kit

Oh, I don't understand that. He did Jaws.

Steve

Yeah, I know.

Kit

Like, how can you shit on the guy who did Jaws?

Steve

Because he ruined New Hollywood, but that was actually Heaven's Gate. The cult. The movie, not the cult. I was gonna say, what? The movie that bankrupted United Artists. Let's take that all out.

Kit

But um why?

Steve

Do the people need to hear a disclosure day talk? Every time that's mostly should you see it in IMAX.

Kit

Every time you say take that out, the only thing I take out is you saying, Let's take that out, and I leave it in. I don't know if you've noticed that in the edits.

Steve

Sometimes you do leave in but get that out part.

Kit

Just to let you know.

Steve

But yeah, disclosure day, IMAX fucking rips. I've never been an Emily Blunt fan. She's unbelievable.

Michelle

Oh, I am an Emily Blunt fan. I love lady.

Steve

Just I cried. I mean, that doesn't take much. There's an alien in it. What else do you need?

Michelle

I love an alien.

Steve

It made me want to watch ET again.

Michelle

Oh. I didn't think it would be that kind of alien movie.

Steve

It's not. It's also not what you think it is, and that's what makes it delightful.

Michelle

Interesting.

Steve

I mean, you don't want me to spoil it.

Kit

So you're saying Steven Spielberg, halfway through the movie, doesn't just appear on screen and say aliens are real and then then start going through a PowerPoint? Like it's inconvenient truth.

Michelle

He actually shows up, he stands up in the audience of whatever theater you happen to be in, like in Megalopolis. Oh my god. Which I didn't see, but I know about. And I did.

Kit

Did you get a guy standing in? We got a guy. Oh huge. Hell yeah.

Steve

It was labeled as Megalopolis, the ultimate experience. Was the guy Adam Driver? No, it was just a fucking AMC guy because the audio's pre-recorded. Sucks. But the only thing I will say, and this isn't a spoiler, that Spielberg utilizes some real alien conspiracy theories as part of the discussion of aliens.

Michelle

Whoa. Like the pyramid stuff or weirder things?

Steve

Weirder.

Michelle

Oh I'm excited.

Steve

One that made me hoot and holler in the theater, and I realized I was the only one that knew what it was referencing.

Michelle

Oh. I'm so curious if I'm gonna know.

Steve

You probably won't. It's it's real Steve Brain shit.

Michelle

Mm-hmm.

Steve

Hmm. Well, as we know, I'm I'm the secret freak. Yeah, but you're also not secretly a hundred-year-old person.

Kit

I don't know that we know of.

Steve

It's true.

Kit

I've never seen her birth certificate.

unknown

True.

Steve

How then is this gonna become a Michelle Truther podcast?

Kit

How old are you? Where's the birth certificate?

Steve

Obamna! Haven't gotten to say that in a few episodes. Oh my god. Anyway, back on track.

Michelle

I love Jurassic Park. I love Jurassic Park. Um, I love that that there is an actual like Matt turning Jay's head. Gay should have been the big banner beautiful. It is yeah. You wouldn't do that if you weren't in love.

Kit

No, you wouldn't.

Steve

It's true. But also them playing the music and then showing people at the Rivoli looking and kind of framing it like Lara Dern was so good. And just for an editing reasons, they deserve so much credit for that. So just the dicks hanging out, and Matt says one of the greatest runs of insults. It's so good I've ever seen.

Michelle

And it that it's just happening like mostly in the background while while Jay is like looking around and panicking is so, so funny to me.

Steve

Oh, I told you guys, I told you, don't wear the pants, but you still don't wear the pants, and now you're looking like the dick man, looking like the penis dude.

Kit

I love that line so much. It's so funny. And then the bit right after that where he's like, this is some like epic Greek shit. It's so good.

Steve

It is an all-timer of a Matt Johnson run.

Michelle

One of the other things on the actual banner itself that I wanted to talk about. There's a phone number on the banner that I was very curious about. And I thought maybe we could call it together. Do it. One moment, please. Toronto area code 416.

Steve

Someone here is unlimited long distance on nights and weekends.

Michelle

Oh yeah.

Steve

Wow.

Michelle

One one moment. They changed the way that phones work, and now you have to press so many more things.

Kit

This is why I think you're a hundred years old.

Steve

You gotta put on speaker, friend.

unknown

Fuck.

Michelle

I am a hundred years old.

Steve

She's used to her rotary.

Michelle

You are calling is unavailable at the moment.

SPEAKER_05

Please try again later.

Michelle

Um yeah, it's not very exciting. I called it earlier to see. Um, and I mostly was really tickled by the the clear Canadian accent of the woman who tells you that that number is disconnected. Please try again later.

Steve

Apparently it used to be something, but I don't know what it was. Listeners, let us know.

Michelle

Yeah, I feel like someone has to have the the lore on where that connected. I tried to find it and uh same and could not could not get any actual information.

Steve

It's incredibly strange that for a cult object, there's really not a lot you can research. Yeah. There is more information on the Chris Gethard dumpster episode than there is on Nervata the Panda show.

SPEAKER_05

I think more people watch the Chris Gethard dumpster episode.

Steve

This is on the uh the the night after Chris Gethard had recreated his dumpster episode, which homework for listeners. If you have not seen the Chris Gethard show's one man trash episode, you must don't look up anything about it.

Kit

It will ruin it. Just find the episode, don't read the comments, don't go any further, just watch it.

Steve

It is one of those pieces of culture that has made our friendship closer.

Michelle

Yes.

Steve

I would put it up there with Rap City Street Kids Believe in Santa.

Michelle

Uh it's it's so so good. I feel like we watched it together a couple years ago, and I was hooting and hollering at at the entire show and then the reveal at the end. It's it's incredible.

Steve

Yeah, and there's there are these pieces of media that I I've shared with the two of you that made me go, I'm glad we're friends, because you bought in on them, including the Adam Palley hosting the late, late show infamous episode in a blizzard.

Michelle

It's really good. Adam Palley is is one of my all-time um big crushes, and and I love him and will look watch anything he does. What a guy. Adam Riley coming in. Yeah. Yeah. I think we should.

Steve

Can that be our Christmas special? You release a commentary on Rhapsody Street Kids Believe in Santa?

Michelle

Oh my god, yes. Yes, of course.

Steve

All right. I wanted to get that on the record.

Michelle

We're watching it anyway. We might as well. Yeah. We watch it every year. I think we've been watching this for five or six years around Christmas time.

Steve

2020, 21, 22, 23, 24, 25. This will be our seventh year of watching Rhapsody Street Kids at Christmas.

Kit

And every year it gets better and better and better. I'm getting so close to understanding what his grandma is saying.

Steve

Herman Christmas.

Michelle

Um, if you're not familiar with this, it is uh just just a horrendously animated Christmas special.

Kit

No, beautiful. Pixar could never.

Steve

Pixar could never. I bet the fan base of Nirvana the Band, the show, and Rhapsody Street Kids.

Kit

Circle.

Steve

Circle, absolute circle. If anyone listening to this hasn't watched that, I would be floored.

Michelle

This is the thing that that like because we watch it around Christmas time, sometimes I'm at my parents or at my in-laws, and I have had to like sneak away to watch it. And someone's like, What are you doing? I'm like, Oh, I have to watch a movie with my friends. Please don't ask me any questions. I don't I don't want to explain. And then I get the song stuck in my head for the next six months of uh I'm the best kid in the world.

Steve

So do you remember Nirvana the Band, the show? It's late, everybody. It is late. We've had long weeks.

Michelle

I the reaction to realizing that Jay's penis is out on the banner is so funny to me that they immediately like go home, get a paint roller and wood varnish and um giant paper mache heads, one of Matt himself, I think, and then Jay is a vampire who also looks like himself. It's perfect.

Kit

Yeah, I mean, Matt just jumps into action immediately. Like, I mean, after roasting Jay, and then seeing Jay's actually very much upset, he's like, all right, we'll fix this. Like, it's fine.

Steve

Yeah. You know what those masks are referencing, right?

Michelle

No. They looked familiar, but I don't know where they come from.

Steve

There is a singer named um Frank Sidebottom, which is a fictional character, actual singer that they then made a movie about with Michael Fossbender, who performs in a mask that looks exactly like that. And it was such a weird specific reference. If you Google Frank Sidebottom, it's a fun name.

Michelle

Is it Michael Fossbender?

Steve

Is it? Maybe I'm wrong.

Michelle

Gene Reno. Yeah, Michael Fossbender. I was right. Oh, I have seen this. I think I assumed that this was related to Mr. Bean.

Steve

Hmm.

Michelle

Somehow.

Steve

That is incredible. That you're like, this has got to be related to Mr. Bean. It looks like Mr. Bean. Yeah, you're right. It does kind of look like Mr. Bean. You're right. Either way, they got these beautiful, oddly specific referenced masks. Yeah, that is really nice. I just thought that was fun, that they put that much work into just making a reference for what, seven people? Yeah.

Michelle

I mean, not having any clue what the reference was about, I really enjoyed that they were wearing gigantic paper mache heads. Yeah.

Steve

And their logic being, if we're wearing disguises of ourselves, no one will think it's us. Yeah. That's good logic. I I wouldn't have thought it was them. No. Though Matt should have had a hat on his hand. He should have. Yeah. I love this woman that comes out of the store when they're trying to paint over the dick.

SPEAKER_03

Mm-hmm.

Steve

Because she does not care that there are two maniacs in a mask with a giant paint roller. And they're like, Yeah, there's a dick on your building, we're gonna get it off. And she's just like, when are you guys gonna be done?

Kit

Like she's just not having it. The most over it retail worker, you know.

Michelle

And we salute you guys. Yeah. She's very powerful. I wouldn't want her to be disappointed in me. I would want to hurry up and get out of her way. Exactly so.

Steve

Oh, we also left out a major plot point, which is when watching Jurassic Park, they realize that Samuel L. Jackson stays calm because he's smoking. So they calm Jay down by having him start smoking.

Kit

Yep.

Steve

Yeah.

Kit

Yeah.

Steve

And it works immediately. And Matt realizing that they replaced somebody replaced my paint with wood varnish, which is obscene. And trying to paint and then accidentally painting an arrow pointing at the dick.

Michelle

It's a good joke. And it's done so flawlessly. Like in the same vein as the like finger over that part of the picture. He's like painting and he tries to like lean the roller and then it slips and then it slips again. And it just seems so natural.

Steve

I couldn't believe it. That's the part I was like really gobsmacked by is how perfect of an arrow he makes by just flopping around. It's not the only thing flopping around. That's true.

Michelle

I'm just going to sit for myself.

Steve

That's the straightest looking hangy dick I've ever seen.

unknown

What?

Michelle

It's just like boop. Um, when you say straightest looking, do you mean in terms of uh like in like a gender and sexuality way or like in a measuring like a ruler angle mathematical kind of way?

Steve

Because I And like you you could put a level on the side of it and it would just come back. Oh, I see.

Kit

Because I was interpreting your statement as like, wow, that's a straight man's dick. And I was like that.

Michelle

That's the dick that a straight man would Photoshop onto that thing. Yeah. Yeah. I think it I think it might be both.

Kit

Yeah.

Michelle

I think it fits both criteria equally.

Kit

Breaking news. We've we've determined it. It's both.

Michelle

It's both?

SPEAKER_03

Yes.

Michelle

Um I did have a note on That's a dick that's never explored. You're right. Uh that it that it is it is a very um it's it's a very generous penis. And I don't and it's not something that I want to like dive deep into, but it is uh it is big, both like in because it's on an enormous poster, and um it's like oh okay.

Steve

Good on you, Matt sister.

SPEAKER_05

Oh yeah. Oh my god.

Steve

So what I was curious about is obviously it was photoshopped on, but like, because otherwise the woman at Sears would have seen a dick hanging out in her studio. Do we think the dick was added in post or it was actually hanging on a banner?

Kit

You know, I'm full conspiracy theory. I that dick was real. Was real, it was really on that banner. That banner really was set on fire. I all of that really happened.

Michelle

The end. Well, the fire trucks were there. Of course. Of course, there was a real fire.

Kit

Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah.

Steve

Yeah. Matt lighting up a cigarette to calm down and then setting the pole on fire that sets the banner on fire. Is Buster Keaton-esque in how perfectly that physical comedy is.

Michelle

It's really, really good.

Steve

And it just goes up so fast.

Michelle

Yeah. It's fire moves very, very quickly, especially when you have a giant sign covered in wood varnish.

Kit

I will say that the banner lighting on fire is one of my favorite things to watch someone else watch when it comes to showing someone that episode. Because I I think it's we're having silly goofy fun, like whatever. And then there's that moment of like watching your friend or family member see that light on fire and that moment of realization of like, oh my God. And then, is that real? And then refusing to explain any further. It's very powerful.

Steve

Which is what happened today. My mother in law was like, what? That's so funny. Because later they cut to footage of a fire and she's like, Oh my god. Yeah. Well the fire that they caused.

Kit

Yeah.

Steve

That was real.

Michelle

It's a documentary.

Kit

Yes.

Steve

Nirvana the band, the documentary.

Kit

Which is why we need Werner Herzog.

Steve

We'll send a follow-up email on the pod. Please. Oh Werner. Send him an Instagram message.

Michelle

Yeah.

Kit

We could give him an award for coming on the podcast. Give him a little trophy. Yeah.

Steve

He loves little trophies. You know, listeners, I just need you to know. This is not a bit. If anyone has a line to Werner Herzog, reach out. We would love to have him on the show.

Michelle

I'm scared. Because asking asking has made things happen before. Name one thing.

Steve

DBD?

Michelle

Uh, but it just I it's just Carson.

Steve

Yeah. Our friend, our buddy. Friend of the show, Carson. Uh, I just yeah, if you guys got a line to Werner, get him on the show. I'll talk to him about anything. Klaus Kinsky. We can help him pull a boat over a mountain. Sure.

Michelle

Yeah.

Steve

Could you imagine Matt Johnson's Fitzcaraldo remake?

Michelle

I bet Matt could pull a boat over a mountain. No problem. No problem. That guy's so strong.

Steve

Okay. Somebody, you need to get onto Blender and uh animate Matt Johnson doing a one-man Fitzcaraldo. Unbelievable. So yeah, Vernon Horizon, and if you got a line to the Canada arm of the ISS, please put them on as well.

Kit

Please.

Steve

Um, anything else you want to talk about on the banner? Uh Matt makes has a comment that I have repeated to people who have not forgotten what I was referencing before when I've choked. It's because Matt's doing like is smoking cigarettes and doing this monologue, being like a gangster. Mm-hmm and being like, oh, this guy, I'm gonna make a hot poker up his ass, blah, blah, blah, blah. And it's just like getting more and more disturbing. And then he inhales smoke and coughs and goes, in the eye, down the wrong pipe at the same time. No, sorry, it's Matt says, wrong pipe in the eye, same time, and then they decide to quit smoking.

Kit

And it's just that easy.

Steve

Yeah. I mean, they've only been smoking for like a week.

SPEAKER_05

Yeah. Should be fine.

Steve

Yeah. Famously an easy thing to do.

SPEAKER_05

So easy.

Steve

Yeah. What a delightful start to a show. What a solid pilot.

Michelle

I love when a show is self-front self. I love when a show is self-referential in the way that this one is, where they're spending the whole time, the whole beginning of it, talking about like we gotta make a good first impression in our pilot. And then after the disastrous series of events that unfolds, it ends with them going, that was a bad first impression. Really, really tickles me.

Steve

What cutie pies? Talented cutie pies.

Kit

Any uh any other thoughts on this one? I love Jurassic Park. I love Laura Dern. I love cigarettes. I love Sam Neil. Sam Neil.

SPEAKER_03

Mm-hmm.

Michelle

I also did have a note in in my notes for this episode that said, why is this an ad for cigarettes? Is Kit gonna be okay?

Kit

Uh for our listeners, I smoked for about 10 years. Uh, I quit smoking the end of last year. Um, and we started watching Nirvana the Band to the start of this year. Um and I was about two months smoke-free when I watched the banner. And I was going through it watching this episode for the first time because let me tell you, smoking does relax you. It really does.

Michelle

And this episode makes cigarettes look really cool and fun.

Kit

Yeah. Yep. Yeah.

Michelle

Kit, I'm so proud of you.

Kit

Oh, thanks. I will die wanting a cigarette, but you know, it's fine. Moving on.

Steve

But that's like me and Mozzarella.

Kit

It's the same thing. It's screwing up your lungs.

Steve

Mm-hmm. Screwing up my tumtums. This is like the third time we've referenced me being lactose intolerant on this podcast.

Kit

Lactose come on the pod.

Steve

No, please don't. Things they know about all of us. Kit used to smoke. I can't eat dairy.

Michelle

I'm an ambiguous age. They're maybe over a hundred.

Steve

We're a mystery wrapped in an enigma. We have listener voicemails. Oh, we do.

Michelle

Oh, nice. I forgot. I genuinely did forget.

Steve

So we have a voicemail from Listener Alexander. Let's go ahead and hear that now.

SPEAKER_00

Um, although I've been listening to the podcast as I've been cooking myself dinner. And it's a very lovely experience so far, but I um I'm like midway through the first episode, and um found myself getting a little uh laughing a little when you guys started to discuss how the Rivoli is also a restaurant space. Um I just got back from a trip last week to Toronto um and that trip I have started to refer to it as the nirvana the band, the religious pilgrimage, because me and a friend went and we just you know we figured hey we're here so we uh went to as many uh as many uh like locations featured in you know the show or the movie as is uh was reasonable and normal to do. But we did go to the riverly and I I will say if you end up in Toronto, the Riverly has it has very good food and um it's a really good space. But yeah, I think it's I think it's funny that you know the Rivley being a restaurant is only mentioned like what is the buddy season two of the Viceland show because I mean it's it's a good good little spot to eat. So definitely a recommendation if you end up getting into Toronto. Thank you so much for calling in.

Steve

That was delightful.

Kit

So fun. I love that we could hear you cooking dinner in the background. I wonder what you were making.

Steve

That was my thought the whole time.

Kit

Yeah, what you got in that pan. Tell us.

Steve

Call back in, tell us the recipe. Because yeah, it sounded it sounded pretty good. There's a lot of clanking, you know, it's a good sign.

Michelle

And also please tell us more about your religious pilgrimage because you know, I think eventually we're gonna be taking one of our own, and we'll need some some sights and sounds, and and I've got this big list of things to do and see in the scarb robe bluffs, but nowhere else in Toronto.

Steve

Well, yeah, I want also want to know what you ate at the Rivoli.

Michelle

Mm-hmm. Yeah. I've never looked at the menu, and I feel like I should.

Steve

Michelle, would you like to give us uh a rundown?

Michelle

Yeah, there are a lot of restaurants called The Rivoli. I had to I had to add Toronto.

Kit

Guys, they have a catering menu. Do you think that we can get them to deliver to New York?

Steve

Gonna use Goldbelly to get food to the Rivoli.

Michelle

The very first item on The Rivoli's menu is Wookie Balls. Rivoli's classic sesame coated deep-fried sticky rice balls with the sweet chili dipping sauce. That sounds lovely.

Steve

Not the name though.

Michelle

Not the name, but the food sounds nice. Spring rolls with mango plum sauce, crispy pork and leek dumplings, Rivley burger? Rivoli's classic pad Thai is the only entree on their menu.

Kit

I can't believe that's real.

Michelle

This a lot of this sounds really good, but I'm also quite confused by it. I don't think I expected there to be a lot of Thai food on this menu. Um passing.

Steve

And a burger together.

Michelle

And a burger. And an impossible burger. And a fried chicken sandwich.

Steve

Didn't I I believe Alamo tried to recreate the fried chicken sandwich for their menu for the movie?

SPEAKER_05

Oh, that's nice. Did you get to try it?

Steve

No.

SPEAKER_05

No.

Steve

Because they wanted me to order on my fucking phone.

SPEAKER_05

Oh shit, yeah.

Michelle

Um, I am delighted to announce that on their wine list they have both a Wayne Gretzky Merlot and under White Wines, there's one just labeled Wayne Gretzky.

Kit

Does Wayne Gretzky own a winery?

Steve

I guess so. Do you think you miss 100% of the sips you don't take?

Michelle

Wayne Gretzky Estates Winery near Niagara Falls. Hmm.

Steve

Do you think he's gonna sell half of it and then make Megalopolis too? The Wayne Gretzky edition?

Michelle

Maybe. Wow. I'm learning so much. Oh, he also has a rose. Thank you so much, Wayne Gretzky. But also, maybe you have bad politics.

Steve

Yeah, Wayne Gretzky has bad politics. Bummer.

Michelle

Um, on the Rivali's cocktail menu, they have uh a Rivoloma. Ooh. Tequila, pineapple juice, grapefruit juice, lime, simple syrup, and tonic. That sounds lovely. I would pay $17.70 Canadian cents for one of those.

SPEAKER_05

This is a very well put together menu. They have a very extensive bar menu, which is exciting to me.

Michelle

Okay. Well, we're going. I can't wait. I can't wait for us to go and get the Wookie Balls and a Wayne Gretzky wine.

Steve

I just this is uh this is a hang up of mine. Even if something's delicious, I cannot order something with a novelty name like that.

Michelle

That seems pretty rich coming from someone who just said that they were waiting for the right novelty menu at IHOP. That's right. Get them, Michelle.

Steve

I will. Here's the thing. I will point at it and be like, can I have the Willy Wook pick? I'm not gonna use the name. The purple. I I want this, the Wookie Balls. I'll look like someone who just like can't read. The Leah Michelle of the Rivoli.

Michelle

I wonder if she's performed there.

Steve

You guys know that conspiracy theory, right? Yeah.

Michelle

That Leah Michelle can't read?

Steve

Yeah, okay, yeah.

Michelle

It's not a conspiracy theory. She cannot read. I've seen a lot of very compelling evidence that would suggest that that she is illiterate and very talented. What a lovely voice. Can't read a word. Can't read. Jonathan Groff has to do her reading for her.

Steve

Adorable. I wish Jonathan Groff would do reading for me.

Michelle

He might. Have you asked? Yeah.

Steve

No, I just went, a woo-ga. Of course. That's to replace Humina Humina on this podcast. And we wrap this sucker up.

Kit

Well, thank you to Did we say the person's name who Alexander? Okay. Thank you. I think it's Alexander.

Steve

Yeah, no, Alexander, thank you and for getting us to uh look up that delightful sounding menu.

Michelle

Um and please call back and let us know if you had the Wookie balls. Thank you very much. And if you had uh Wayne Gretzky Rose. Yes, we need to know.

Kit

And if you are not Alexander and you've had the Wookie balls, please let us know. I need a full report on what they tasted like. Thanks. Yeah.

Steve

And if we don't hear back, that means uh they stopped finding us delightful after the first episode.

Kit

Understandable.

Steve

Yeah, no, I don't blame anyone.

Kit

Yeah, we kind of suck.

Steve

Nope. No, we're fucking great. We're we're funny, we're sexy, we're yeah, we got everything going for us.

Michelle

We're over a century old. We? Yeah. Huh. All of us.

unknown

Okay.

Steve

Do you think that there's a portrait in Michelle's attic that's just really fucking mangled?

Kit

Oh, for sure.

Steve

We finally put one Michelle conspiracy theory to rest. Another one started another one.

Kit

How old are you?

Steve

I'll never tell. Stop the steal. Anywho, so that was the end of the banner. There were dicks, there was fire, there were VHS tapes.

Michelle

There was a large-scale printer. Shout out to people who work in print shops. You're doing good work. Hell yeah.

Steve

Those guys seemed so professional.

Michelle

I really loved that. I uh I didn't bring it up because there wasn't much to say, but uh I I just want everyone to know that I really did enjoy the interlude in the print shop.

Steve

Me too. I also was adding in my notes. Print shop, delightful. Uh well, friends, we will see you here next week for another episode of the Viceland series. Um remember, if you have an episode that you want to talk about, now is the time. We record these in advance. Call it in, give us your opinions, give us your fun facts, uh, and we will maybe play it on that episode. How do people call in, Steve? Well, if you want to call in, you can one email us a voice memo at Nerva, you know, send it to nirvana the pod at gmail.com. Or if you want to leave us one that's pretty short, you can go to speakepipe.com slash nirvana the pod. We want to hear from you. Or you can find us on all the social medias. It's at the end of the episode. I recorded that fucker once. I ain't saying it again. Maybe listen to the credits. That's right. I'm calling you out.

Kit

But we love you, Colin.

Steve

XOXO love you. And that's why I'm calling you out because I have high standards for you. Because I love you.

Kit

Calling you in. Be parasocial with us.

Steve

Please don't. Or do, whatever. Who knows? Be parasocial with Michelle. How old is she? Put your guesses in. It's gonna be like Email us.

SPEAKER_04

Email us your guesses. The first one who gets it right will win a prize that is undisclosed.

Steve

Mm-hmm. At some point, we need to come up with something stupid to mail somebody.

Michelle

Yeah. Oh yeah. I have so many envelopes. Let me put something dumb in them. Why do you have so many envelopes? I like to mail people things and I need them. Okay. I have an envelope with your name on it literally on my table right now that I've just been too lazy to go figure out the shipping label for. That feels really ominous. You should feel scared. Okay, good.

Steve

You know you're gonna see her in like a week and a half, right?

Michelle

But that's not the same. I want to put it in the I want to put it in the mail.

Kit

We already went to the Mets Pride event, remember?

Steve

Why can't we see each other more than once, kit? I've already seen you once this year. We only get one. I see you all the time. You're your lovely face.

Michelle

We can't all be physically together too often. Too powerful.

Steve

It is. It does not end well.

Michelle

There are only so many novelty menus for us to work through. It's true.

Steve

I was thinking about the bathroom at Buffalo Bill's house, and how I was the only one brave enough to take a shower.

Michelle

Oh yeah.

Steve

Everyone, every we had a packed house, and all of you were like, I'm not gonna try and figure this out. And I was at five in the morning. I was like, I need to figure out how the shower works.

Michelle

I just took a shower when I got home.

Steve

I can't go more than like 20 hours without a shower, or I might die. Yeah. I'm I'm a prima donna that way. But anywho, showers aside, send us your voicemails. We want to play them. Send us your voicemails. I want to put a challenge out to our listeners. Oh. We have had our list of guests that we wanted. Who do you think we should have on? And don't say yourself. That's true. That's an easy out. Who do you think will be?

Michelle

Unless you're Werner Herzog, and then you are allowed to say yourself.

Steve

Yes.

Michelle

And if you're listening, that's crazy. Hello. Why have you emailed us?

Kit

Why haven't you emailed us? We're taking my email every episode.

Steve

Michelle

Steve

So as always, nothing like a good feeling. Nothing like a good feeling.

Kit

Nothing like a good feeling.

Steve
